After breakfast, meet your private Egyptologist guide to continue your 4-day Cairo holiday with a deep dive into the heart of ancient Egyptian civilization—the Giza Plateau, home to the last intact Wonder of the Ancient World. Here you’ll find the three main pyramids, six subsidiary pyramids, the iconic Great Sphinx, and Khafre’s Valley Temple.
Stand before the Great Pyramid of Khufu (c. 2580 BC), an engineering milestone originally rising to about 147 m (481 ft) and often estimated at ~2.3 million limestone blocks. For roughly 3,800 years it remained the tallest human-made structure, until the spire of Lincoln Cathedral was completed in 1311. The pyramid’s scale and precise internal layout continue to inspire awe and curiosity.
Continue to the Great Sphinx, carved directly from the bedrock—about 73 m (240 ft) long and ~20 m (66 ft) high—traditionally associated with King Khafre as a symbol of power and wisdom. Then visit Khafre’s Valley Temple, one of the best-preserved Old Kingdom temples, long linked to purification rites within the mummification cycle.
Next, explore the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), a state-of-the-art complex aligned with the Giza pyramids and spanning nearly 490,000 m². Designed with one of the largest conservation centers in the Middle East, GEM presents headline pieces such as the Hanging Obelisk, the 11-meter colossus of Ramses II, and the complete Tutankhamun collection of over 5,000 artifacts, offering a sweeping gateway to 5,000 years of art, ritual, and legacy.
Break for lunch at a local restaurant in Cairo.
In the afternoon, travel to Saqqara to see the Step Pyramid of Djoser, designed by the legendary architect Imhotep. This first-of-its-kind stone complex inaugurated Egypt’s golden age of pyramid building: six stepped tiers rising to about 62 m, set within a vast ceremonial precinct adorned with elegant reliefs and processional elements.
At day’s end, return to your hotel for a restful evening.

After breakfast, you meet your private guide and slip into the rhythm of Old Cairo. The day opens at the Egyptian Museum (Tahrir), where quiet galleries unfold into a maze of statues, jewelry, and royal treasures—thousands of years distilled into a calm morning of discovery.
By midday, you pause for lunch at a local restaurant—simple, satisfying, and perfectly timed—then head uphill to the Mokattam heights where the Citadel of Salah al-Din watches over the city. Within its walls, the past feels close: stone ramparts, broad courtyards, and stories of power that shaped Cairo’s skyline.
At the summit, the Mosque of Muhammad ‘Ali (the Alabaster Mosque) rises in pale stone and sweeping domes. You step into the airy courtyard, look up to the great central dome, and take in the panorama—Cairo stretching to the horizon in every direction.
From there, you descend to Fustat for the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC). The narrative shifts from pharaohs to a full arc of Egyptian life—craft, faith, daily rituals—culminating in the Royal Mummies Hall, where history meets you face to face.
As afternoon light softens, you stroll al-Mu ‘Izz Street, a living corridor of Islamic architecture—portals, domes, inscriptions—before drifting into the lanes of Khan El-Khalili. Brass lamps glow in shopfronts, spices and coffee perfume the air, and the hum of bargaining folds into the evening. By day’s end, you return to your hotel—camera full, feet content, and Cairo’s stories still echoing.
